Run #14 - Froglegs and Knights in Vernaison - 30/08/2025

HHHey Halfminds,

Here a mix of our two last trails, one where much water (from the sky!) and swimming in a lake was involved and the other one about fairy tales... , so that some of us might have turned into frogs already!

Well, next trail won't be far from the water either, and the hare promissed us forest and knights of the round table... or at least a table, and frogs... will those poor frogs end up on the knights roundtable? or just on the hashers' plates?

Here the details:

When : Saturday 30th August at 2pm

Where : In front of Vernaison train station

How to get there
From Lyon Perrache station, take the 13:31 train in the direction of Firminy.
It's only a 15min train ride to Vernaison, BUT, there is a train every hour only. Don't miss it!

Hare : Hidden Asset

Hashcash : 5€

Bagdrop : probably?

On after (or On before?) : The local resto (L'île) is supposed to be renowned for its Froglegs... let's see what we can disorganise.

Run #13 - A brief but short Fairy Tale run

HHHey Halfminds,

It's August, the town is empty, all the lyonnais are away on vacation... all?? no, a few irreductible hashers are still bravely battling with the heat, quenching their thirst with every single beer they might lay their hands on!

And that's a good coïncidence, since we have visitors next week, Sleeping Booty from Paris and Bl*w Job from Australia. Yes, sounds like the start of a very hashy fairy tale. Wanna know the end of the story?

Come and join us for a short(ish) trail - said the hare, and some drinking practice afterwards!

Here the details:

When : Thursday 14th August at 6:30pm

Where : Place Bellecour, north-east corner. In front of the Crédit Mutuel bank, 15 place Bellecour

How to get there : Metro stop Bellecour

Hare : Lazy Swinger (+ You Chew Mine? )

Hashcash : 5€

Bagdrop : no

This will be a A to B run. Runners and walkers welcome

On after : there will be some drinking at the local bars afterwards. Check the WhatsApp to know where exactly

Run #12 - A French man went to...the Lac de Miribel - 14/07/2025

 HHHey Halfminds,

What a better way to celebrate July 14th than to ... go to the lavatory!

Following the recent heatwave, we all agree that a cool and wet one would be best for next Lyon H3 run.

The hare told me, he has no clue yet, where he would take us, but he promissed a swimstop and some insider information on the asian food vendors hiding in the bushes around the lake...  (I wonder if there is a hidden message here...)

Here the details:

When : Monday 14th July at 10am

Where : In front of the public toilets , plage du Morlet, All. du Morlet, 69120 Vaulx-en-Velin
Between Brasserie du Grand Parc and Parking de la Capitainerie

How to get there
Take bus N83 from Métro Laurent Bonnevay or bus N80 from Métro Vaulx en Velin la Soie. Stop at "Grand parc le Morlet" and walk 1 minute to the start. Bus every 20 min
Or bike it, along the Rhône
Cars : plenty car parks around

Hare : You Chew Mine

Hashcash : 5€

Bagdrop : probably

Swimstop : yes! get ready to be wet

On after : we will do a picnic after the run, either by buying asian food from the street vendors (if they are around on that day) or from the local guinguette / frite house. This is pay as you go. You can also bring your own food.
And we will hang out by the lake afterwards...

Run report:
It was a hot morning, half of the pack still being hungover from the dancing (and maybe the drinking) at the Bal des Pompiers the night before...

After a confusing car ballet (2 hares, 3 cars!!!), the hares started an energetic and very thorough chalktalk... then mentionning that the huge rain downpour the night before had probably washed away all the marking...

However, runners and walkers didn't let that get in their way to the beerstop.

And along the lake we went.
Over bridges and ridges... and naturist beaches...

Finally reaching the On Inn and the promised wet spot... I mean, the SwimStop!

Lunch was had somewhere in Asia... (yes, we ran that far).

And the drinking / sleeping /swimming went lazzily on all afternoon, so lazzy, that we didn't even have a circle...

Run #11 - Let's celebrate 69 !

HHHi Halfminds,

Recently a new hasher was born! So let's celebrate his 69th day in this world with a run starting from where it all begun (yeah... the hospital...)
Our hare, now an irresponsable parent, promissed a short 6.9 km urban trail for the runners and probably a few shortcuts for the w#nkers.
The whole followed by an apéro (=circle, but French style) down by the river.

Here the (very) confusing details if you want to join:

When : Thursday 12th June at 6.9pm
(Yes it's during the week, yes, it's in the evening, and yes, it is just before 7pm . 18h54 to be precise)

Where : At the Gym ....
Meet at the outdoor gym installation, down by the river on Quai Claude Bernard, just accross Hôpital Saint Joseph Saint Luc and Tram 1 stop "Quai Claude Bernard"

How to get there : Take tram T1 to "Quai Claude Bernard", and just go down on the quai by the river.

Hare : Lazy Swinger + Lazy Cola

Hashcash : 5€

Bagdrop : Not really, but if you insist (and walk 10 min), we'll find a solution.

****************************************
Run report:
For being so tiny, the hare, Lazy Cola, set a pretty long trail, with 2 drink stops and a long apéro circle afterwards.

The poor quality of the markings was of course attributed to the co-hare, Lazy Swinger, who had more interest on showing us all the strip clubs around Vieux Lyon, than keeping the pack together.
Just Nadège and Hidden Asset, running straight to the On Inn trail... following it backwards for a long...long...long...time, before being called (litterally on the phone!!!) back from the Hare.

The first beerstop had been chosen in honor of the newly born, Abel, but turned out not to be a bar ... So Hidden Asset rushed to the nearby supermarket, and found the beerstop, safely stored in the fridges of the shop... How clever!

After quite a view false trails (unsurprisingly all done by You Chew Mine...), and a good amount of technology, Runners and Walkers gathered at Hotel Dieu for the second Beerstop (surprinsingly cold).

The rest of the run and the circle was kind of blurry... and stretched late into the night. Welcome to Just Nadège (a virgin!) and Just Erhart (a visitor... from Hannover!)

Run #10 - Technology in St Priest

HHHi Halfminds,

We all know technology is not made for trail, so don't let the hare fool you with the name of the starting point... shiggy there shall be!

When : Sunday 18th May at 14:00

Where : Tram stop "Parc Technologique" in St Priest - Tram line T2

How to get there : Take tram T2 in the direction of St Priest Bel Air

Hare : Hidden Asset
Hashcash : 5€
Bagdrop : Not really, but if you insist, we'll stash your stuff in the nearby bushes...

Run report:

After a lot of last minute changes on the RSVP, who's cumming list, and who will drive, we ended up having almost more cars than hashers at the run...
ok, not illogic, as this was a technology run.

Lots of lakes, high grass, wild spring flowers on trail, while the runners were sent on a flew extra loops, with a bit more concrete to it.

Walkers patiently waited for the lost runners at beerstop one, and at beerstop 2 as well...

A buccolic circle was had, with some new shoes, a naming, and quite a lot of bad singing...

Run #9 - Beer Festival in La Doua

HHHi Halfminds,

Beer tastes better with you! But before heading to the beer festival on Sunday, let's pretend to have a hashtrail.
The hares promised the shortest trail in history... it's still taking 2 of them to lay it...
Well, here some useful/less info about next run :

When : Sunday 13th  April at 12:00 (just to confuse you)

Where : Tram stop "Université Lyon 1 - Claude Bernard" (Tram line 1 and 4)

Hares : Neglijected + Just Jaime

Hashcash : 5€ (maybe)

Bagdrop : no, carry your own shit

A to B trail (B 10 min walk from A)

Dresscode : "You can dress in your muggle attire" said the hare.
                   "Just try..." said the RA

On-After : we are going to the Lyon Beer Festival,  at the Double Mixte, 19 Av. Gaston Berger. Entrance cost 9€  (7,50€ if you buy your ticket before ). Bring cash to buy your beer.

****************************************

Run report :
A live trail hared by 2 hungover harriettes, 2 international visitors (the 3rd one skipped trail to go straight to on after), 2 virgins fecht randomly on the social networks... what could go wrong?

Lovely bushy trail, short circle...

Well, we did our best, but couldn't finish all the beer at the beer festival...

Run #8 - Ste Foy Lès Lyon

 HHHi Halfminds,

You better get up early to be on time for next run!
Let's see how many hashers the hares will loose even before the start of the trail.

What else? Hills, secret alleyways and hidden church stuff again, fantastic view points, maybe a few markings... and the 2 traditionnal Lyon H3 drinkstops???

When : Sunday 30th  March at 14:00

Where : Parc Clos de Chassagne, Chemin de Chassagne, by the Tennis Club / accross the Swimming pool.

How to get there : From Perrache, take Bus 8 in the direction of Oullins at 13:25, stop at "Piscine l'Amonite"  . (Bus goes once every 50 min!)
If you miss bus 8, try bus C19 in the direction of Francheville, Stop at "Ste Foy centre" and then walk 15 min (bus goes ones every 25 min)

Hares : You Chew Mine and Lazy Swinger
Hashcash : 5€
Bagdrop : yes, if needed
A to B trail (but we have transport if you need to go back to A)

****************************************
Run report :

Guess what?? Trail went up and down again!

We spent quite a lot of time looking for the infamous murderer "Le Boucher de Ste Foys"

But the scariest thing we saw on trail was a beercooler full of... limonade!!!

Many historical and touristy stops where randomly planned by the hares.

And thanks to a well placed "Beaver stop", our Canadian visitors/virgins truly enjoyed their day!!

Run #7 - St Patrick's run

It's never too early to celebrate a Saint! Our very pious hares decided to have a run in the honor of Patrick, the Saint patron of the snakes' charmers (according to wikipedia...).
We've been promessed a trail as flat as Croagh Patrick, full of black stuff (Guinness!) and maybe a few sheeps! (one can't have giraffes on trail everytime...)

When : SATURDAY 15. March at 14:00
Where : Place Bellecour, north-east corner. In front of the Crédit Mutuel, 15 place Bellecour
How to get there : Metro stop Bellecour
Hares : Tintin and Lazy Swinger
Hashcash : 5€ + bring your own €€ for spontaneus pub stops
Bagdrop : probably not
Dress code : wear green or something Irish

****************************************

Run report :

The wet Irish weather welcomed our Swiss guests at their arrival in Lyon, but rain stopped immediatly as the run started.
Pity the hares had laid the trail the night before...

The green pack briskly went off, runners up and down the hills of La Croix Rousse, Walkers taking a less steep option (and yes, there was definitively some shortcutting involved.

Watched a bit of Rugby in the first pub.

More shortcutting by the walkers ... the hare being lost on his own trail, decided to head straight to Pub #2 , where more rugby was watched.

A short circle on the river banks, with some famous locals.

And our Swiss guests had to be carried home...

See you soon again!

Run #6 - Parc de la tête d'or... reloaded

An old urban legend says, a beautifull hashtrail was once laid in the Parc de la Tête d'or... but the elements always prevented the hashers to run it... let's try again this time!

When : Sunday 23. February at 14:00
Where : Entrance of Parc de la Tête d'Or (49 Boulevard des Belges/Rue Tête d'Or)
How to get there from Part-Dieu train station: 10 min bus ride (line C1 or C6). Or 2km walk.
Hare : Hidden Asset
Hashcash : 5€
Bagdrop : probably not a big one. Leave your heavy shit at home

*************************

Run report:

What a sunny day! And the parc was open (unlike the nearby supermarket, which was closed exceptionnaly (again!), causing a bit of pre run stress for the disorganisation of the beerstop.)

The pack was joined this time by 2 virgins, maid to come by Just Jaime and the internet.
After an extensive chalk-talk, the pack hastily started the trail, fending their way through the dozens of muggles and some other type of wild life - some documentation here : #giraffeOnTrail

The parc is so beautiful, that the hare didn't bother marking any hash view, but one.

No pictures of the runners available... they turned up at the drinkstop though (exactly at the same time as the w#nkers), complai ning the trail had been marked exclusively with checks... ok... the hare might have underestimated the lenght of the trail... but 6.9 km before reaching the beerstop didn't seem abnormal...
After finding an open supermarket, circle was had in a little side alley way. Down-down including new shoes for Just Jaime, lack of second beerstop for the hare, too much moaning for Lazy Swinger, and one for Tintin for making his penchant for S&M a bit too obvious.
It was decided to meet soon again for some Choir Practice...
On On!

Run #5 - Crêp' run

Candelmass is around the corner, and in France it means only one thing: Crêpes! For the occasion, our hares plan on letting the pack flip around Jean Macé, in search of the true trail. But will there be enough flour left for the pancakes on after??

Let's find out! Join us for Lyon H3 run #5

When : Sunday February 2nd 2025 at 14:00

Where 36 Rue Jaboulay, 69007 Lyon, at the entrance of the parc
https://maps.app.goo.gl/tqyrgtzuVoKuBCPh7

How to get there: Metro line B Jean Macé, Tram 1 or 2

Hare : Lazy Swinger + Just Jaime
Hashcash : 5€
Bagdrop : yes
What: A to A run, walkers and runners trail available

On-after : Crêpes at Hidden Asset's

*************************************************************************
Run report:
7 hashers were brave enough to show up for this crap run... oh wait... crêpes...
The hares had prepared a half-marathon trail for the runners... and almost as much for the walkers.
Luckily, there was enough beerstops on the way to keep the pack going. Thanks to our virgin beermeister!

Nonetheless the warmth of the on-after (and not only the hot grolle!) was appreciated. And craps were thrown and flipped all over the place!
